Headed To Hostal Refugio del Rio? You Need To Know This Before You Go

Plan on staying at the Hostal Refugio del Rio? Before you arrive, you’ll need to know a few things–like directions and information to guide you to Hostal Refugio del Rio. I’m able to speak on this because I had the pleasure to stay in Boquete, Panama for a month and volunteer at the hostal as well. During my stay, I help to upgrade and redesign the map of Boquete, recreate another banner for rules, and Kim helped with social media. Plus I can tell you of some great spots to hit up and what to expect at the hostal as well.

If you’re arriving by bus, you will be taking the bus from David, Panama and the ride is about an hour-long. Expect to pay $2.00 once you arrive in Boquete for the bus ride. The bus will drop you off at Central Park. #2. (located on Map ONE.) And On Map TWO it says Bus Terminal (from David).

You can choose a walk to the hostal (which will take you about 7minutes), or you can take a taxi. The taxi ride will be no more than $1.00. Once you arrive you will be greeted and can check in with the receptionist, they will gladly take care of you and explain the rules and deposits you will need to take care of. You will be able to share the kitchen, cook, buy groceries (make sure you label your bag with your name) and clean the dishes once your done.

On Wednesday nights, it’s “Pizza” night! The best homemade pizza you will sink your mouth into. You can choose what kind of pizza you’ll like to have on the menu too.  We also had Taco Tuesday night that was created by Kimberly L. Sinclair that was a blast as well! Fresh seasoned tacos with your choice of veggies, chicken or beef.  There is so much to do here at the Hostal you will feel right at home. And don’t forget to ask about the tours! My favorite? The coffee tour.

If you not up for tours, you can rome the streets of Boquete filled with lots of hidden gems. There’s a gringo market right over by the bridge on Tuesdays from 9am-12pm make sure you arrive on time it gets pretty crowded. If you’re looking for a social place with great drinks, you’ve got to hit up Mikes Global Bar and Grill! You will enjoy two for one on Tuesdays from 2pm-6pm. Now that’s a HAPPY HOUR! And my favorite place to have great sandwiches is Sugar and Spice. You will not be disappointed! The service is excellent, and they make fresh-baked bread every day. Last but not least.. I had the hardest time of where to go for a pedicure! Ugh.. I finally found a place that a friend recommended called I Style Salon & Spa Chiriqui. The best pedicure in Boquete! Very clean. Organized. And exceptional service!

Please enjoy your stay in Boquete. And please feel free to print out the maps before your arrival.
